Understanding Joint pain and your Doshas

Reason for Joint Pain according to Ayurveda?

Ayurveda considers vitiated Vata as the reason behind any kind of pain in the body. This vitiation can lead to 80 types of disorders out of which maximum are related to joint pain conditions. The Vata gets aggravated or vitiated by various factors like eating more dry, cold and light food (like air fried snacks or sand roasted snacks), taking lesser food than required by the body over a long period, doing excessive exercises (or swimming, walking, running, travelling) or being over indulged in sex life, staying awake late at nights or having disturbed/ irregular sleeping patterns regularly, taking wrong panchakarma therapies, trying to control 13 natural body urges which should never be constrained, getting injured or getting ill from a longer period of time, heavy blood loss during any injury, etc. Sometimes, Kapha is also associated with such conditions which makes the case more severe.

Which could be the best dosage form for Joint Pains?

As the predominant dosha for joint pains is vitiated Vata dosha and Tailas/oils are considered best for pacification of Vata. Thus, Tailas/oils can be considered best for joint pains. It will also be helpful in conditions which are associated with Kapha as they are Ushna virya (hot potency), doesn’t aggravates Kapha and helps to increase bala (strength) of the body.

Why you should use Nabhi Sutra Joint Pain oil?

Nabhi Sutra Joint Pain oil contains Ricinus communis, Zingiber officinale and Olea europaea oil which is having a very good role in treating joint pain conditions.

Eranda (Ricinus communis) is categorized under Angamarda prashamana mahakashaya (the drug which pacifies squeezing type of pain associated with Vata conditions) by Acharya Charaka and under Vata sanshamana gana (the one which pacifies Vata). It is of Ushna virya (hot potency) and specifically may benefits the condition due to Rheumatoid Arthritis. As it pacifies Vata thus, helps to reduce pain and swelling. It’s seed oil contains Ricinoleic acid (major fatty acid) which is having good anti-inflammatory effects.

Shunthi (Zingiber officinale) is categorized under Shula prashamana mahakashaya (the drug which pacifies Shula means pain) by Acharya Charaka. It is also Ushna virya, Shothahara (reduces swelling), reduces joint stiffness, Vednasthapana (reduces joint pains) and may help in dealing with pain in condition of Rheumatoid Arthriti. It contains Gingerol, Shogaol, Zingiberol, etc which are responsible for it’s good anti-inflammatory properties.

Olive oil (Olea europaea) is not mentioned in Ayurvedic texts as it is not produced in India. Thus, it is considered as Anukta dravya (Anukta means which is unuttered or unspoken). Inspite of this, it was used in the formula as it enhances the skin permeation. It has the capacity to prevent cartilage damage caused in Osteo arthritis.

Thus, Nabhi Sutra Joint Pain oil could be very beneficial in various Vata disorders especially Rheumatoid Arthritis.
