Belly Button Oil Chart: Which Oil for Which Problem? The Only Nabhi Oil Guide You Need
Ayurvedic Navel Therapy · Complete Oil Guide
This is the blog we get asked for the most.
"Which belly button oil should I use?" "I have this problem and that problem, which one do I pick?" "Can I use the same oil for everything?"
Fair questions. Because when you see nine different belly button oils sitting in front of you, it gets confusing. Especially if you are new to Nabhi Chikitsa and have never tried navel oiling before.
So we made this simple. One blog. Every oil. What goes into it. What it is designed for. And a clear chart so you can just look at your concern, find your oil, and get started.

First, What Even is Belly Button Oiling?
If you already know this, skip ahead. But for those who are hearing about it for the first time, quick background.
Belly button oiling is an Ayurvedic practice called Nabhi Chikitsa. Your navel is considered one of the most receptive points on your body. It is connected to over 72,000 nadis according to Ayurvedic texts. Before you were born, it was literally how your body received every bit of nutrition for nine months.
Ayurveda says this receptive quality stays with you throughout life. When you apply oil to your belly button, the nourishing ingredients absorb through the skin. It is mentioned in the Charak Samhita. Our grandmothers practised it daily. Their grandmothers before them too.
The ritual is the same for all nine oils. 2 to 3 drops in the navel. Gentle clockwise massage for 2 to 3 minutes with your ring finger. Bedtime. Five minutes. The only thing that changes is which bottle you pick up.
The Nine Oils. One by One.
What is inside each one. What it is formulated for. And who should consider using it.
Healthy Hair Care Belly Button Oil
Coconut oil conditions and hydrates. Black seed oil (kalonji) supports scalp wellness with qualities that traditional medicine has valued for centuries across cultures. Tea tree keeps the scalp environment clean and purified so nourishment can actually reach the skin.
Sensational Skin Care Belly Button Oil
Almond oil nourishes with the richness Ayurveda has long linked to skin softness. Lemon oil brings natural brightness and a refreshing cleansing quality. Olive oil provides deep hydration and holds moisture in, keeping skin from feeling tight or dry.
Daily Digestion & Detox Belly Button Oil
Ginger has warming qualities that support healthy metabolism and digestion. That comfortable warmth after adrak chai on a cold morning, this oil brings that quality to the belly button ritual. Castor oil has lubricating and soothing qualities that support the digestive system in its natural processes.
Eye Care Belly Button Oil
A simple, gentle formulation. Coconut oil supports nourishment and internal hydration. Olive oil brings its own soothing and nourishing qualities. Together, a calming ritual for eyes that deal with screens all day.
Sleep Inducing Belly Button Oil
Vetiver has a deep, earthy, grounding quality that Ayurveda has used for centuries to support calm and relaxation. It is the kind of ingredient that makes your body go "okay, we can rest now." Lavender calms the mind and takes the edge off a racing thought cycle.
Acne Control Belly Button Oil
Neem is one of the most powerful purifying herbs in Ayurveda. Antibacterial. Antifungal. Our grandparents used it for everything. Its purifying and antibacterial qualities support a cleaner, healthier skin environment. Lemon oil complements with brightening and cleansing qualities.
Joint Pain Remedy Belly Button Oil
Same two ingredients as the digestion oil but formulated in different proportions for a different purpose. Ginger brings warming comfort to stiff joints and tired muscles. Castor oil provides lubricating and soothing qualities. Joints need lubrication. Muscles need soothing. Castor has been valued in Ayurveda for exactly these qualities.
Menstrual Pain Relief Belly Button Oil
Ginger brings comforting warmth that helps during crampy, heavy period days, easing that pulling sensation in the lower belly. Lavender calms the mind and body when dealing with pain, mood shifts, and irritability all at once. Warmth plus calm, designed specifically for the toughest days of the month.
Kids Growth Belly Button Oil
Formulated differently from all the others. Designed specifically for children. Gentle ingredients, mild formulation, nothing too strong. Children's bodies are still developing and do not need the same intensity of ingredients that adults do. Made to support overall growth and wellness in kids through the belly button ritual.

The Ritual is the Same for All Nine Oils
No matter which oil you pick from the chart, the application is identical.
- Clean the belly button. Cotton bud and warm water. Quick wipe. 30 seconds.
- Lie flat on your back. Not sitting. Not standing. The oil needs to settle properly.
- Apply 2 to 3 drops. Directly from the bottle into the navel. No warming. No mixing.
- Clockwise massage with your ring finger. 2 to 3 minutes. Gentle pressure. The oil absorbs into the skin during this massage. After a couple of minutes, most of it has soaked in. That is why 2 to 3 drops is enough. You do not need more.
- Sleep. Five minutes. Every night. The only thing that changes is which bottle you pick up.
The Part Nobody Wants to Hear But Needs To
Every single one of these oils is a wellness ritual. Not a medicine. Not a treatment. Not a shortcut.
If your diet is bad, no belly button oil is going to fix things on its own. If you are sleeping 4 hours a night, no oil compensates for that. Ayurveda has never been about one magic product. It has always been about balance. Balanced eating. Balanced routine. Balanced mind. These rituals sit on top of that foundation and support it. They do not replace it.
Eat home cooked food. Drink water. Sleep properly. Move your body. Manage your stress. Then add the belly button oil ritual as your nightly act of self care. That is how you get the most out of any of these nine oils.
And one more thing. Every body is unique. Ayurveda talks about three doshas — Vata, Pitta, Kapha. What works quickly for a Pitta person might take longer for a Vata person. Do not compare your experience with someone else's Instagram post. Give your body its own time to respond.
FAQs
Which belly button oil should I start with if I have never tried navel oiling before?
Depends on your biggest concern right now. Hair fall? Start with the hair oil. Digestion issues? Start with digestion oil. Cannot sleep? Sleep oil. Pick whatever feels most relevant to you today. You can always try others later.
My mom wants to try this. She is 55. Which oil?
Depends on what bothers her most. Joint discomfort, the Joint Pain oil. Cannot sleep well, the Sleep oil. Dry skin, the Skin Care oil. Age does not matter for this ritual. The oils work for all age groups.
Can men use belly button oils?
Of course. Nabhi Chikitsa has nothing to do with gender. Men deal with hair fall, digestion issues, sleep problems, and joint pain too. Every oil in this chart works the same regardless of gender.
2 to 3 drops seems very little. Is that really enough?
It is. Your belly button is small. After a 2 to 3 minute massage, those drops absorb into the skin completely. More oil just overflows and goes to waste. 2 to 3 drops is the right amount.
Do I need to warm the oil?
No. All Nabhi Sutra oils are ready to use straight from the bottle.
What if I have multiple problems? Hair fall AND acne AND bad sleep?
Rotate. Hair oil 2 nights. Acne oil 2 nights. Sleep oil 1 night. Adjust based on which concern is most urgent that week. Your body benefits from all of them over time. Stick to one oil consistently for about 21 days before rotating freely.
How long before I notice anything?
Give any oil at least 4 to 6 weeks of consistent use. That means 4 to 5 nights a week without long gaps. Your body needs time to respond to consistent nourishment. Results also depend heavily on your diet and lifestyle alongside.
Are these oils safe during pregnancy?
Please check with your doctor before using any new product during pregnancy. Some essential oil ingredients may not be suitable. Do not take chances on this.
Can I use these for my kids?
The Kids Growth Oil is specifically made for children. For other oils, stick to the kids version until they are older. Children's bodies are more sensitive and adult formulations may be too strong.
